Chief for Tontokrom, Nana Adu Gyamfi has accused the managers of Asanko Gold of intimidating the youth in the area.

He indicated that, their only crime is demanding permit which authorises the company to mine in the town.

Nana Adu Gyamfi comment comes after security officers of the mining firm are reported to have fired a gunshot, leading to the death of a resident.

There has been longstanding tension between Asanko Gold and the locals over alleged trespassing on the legally acquired concessions of the company by the youth, many of whom had resorted to illegal mining for survival due to the lack of decent jobs in the area.

This latest incident follows a protest staged by residents on Friday, demanding the establishment of a Community Mining Scheme to address the ongoing disputes.

Reacting to the development on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Monday, the the chief expressed disappointment.

“The company always intimidates the youth with machomen, soldiers, and police just to take what belongs to the community. They don’t respect us and refuse to bring any letter of permit to that effect” he said.

Furthermore, he stressed, “The company has not informed us that they have land there. We only want residents in the community to find work to do”.

In his view, the community is being threatened and cheated by the company.

“We do not like the conduct of the company. We appeal to the president to immediately intervene and issue a community mining license for us.” he said.

Ghanaian security analyst and International Relations expert, Farouk Al Wahab has explained why diplomats especially from Europe and the United States of America (USA) are fighting against the Anti-LGBTQ Bill.

He claimed majority of these diplomats are homosexuals and lesbians thus the passage of the Bill will mean their partners cannot visit them in Ghana.

His comment follows the passage of the anti-LGBTQ+ Bill by the Parliament of Ghana on February 28, 2024.

The Bill criminalizes LGBTQ+ activities, their promotion, advocacy, and funding within the country.

The international community are warning of dire consequences should President Akufo-Addo assent to the Bill to be an Act.

But Al Wahab claimed the opposition from Europe and America is for personal parochial interest.

He claimed if the Bill becomes an Act, majority of these diplomats cannot get visas for same-sex partners if the is signed into an Act.

“This gay thing happens here in Ghana; these diplomats are given spouse visas for their partners with the same sex, especially Holland and other European countries. When the Bill is passed, Ghana Immigration will cease to give them spousal visas, especially to those from Holland and other European countries. That is the actual problem” he alleged.

Al Wahab maintained that, Ghana will not be affected in anyway if President Akufo-Addo signs to Bill into an Act.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie South district, Clement Opoku Gyamfi, has described as unfortunate the deadly clash between the youth of Tontokrom and security personnel of AsankoGold the claimed three lives.

According to him, the situation involves two factions, and thus it is imperative that it be resolved in an amicably way.

“There is the need for a win-win approach to satisfy both the community and the company, meeting them halfway with a 50-50 percent solution as neither party should feel shortchanged” he said in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Monday.

There has been longstanding tension between AsankoGold and the locals over the alleged trespassing of legally acquired concessions of the company by the youth, many of whom had turned to illegal mining for survival due to the lack of decent jobs in the area.

This latest incident follows a protest staged by residents on Friday, demanding the establishment of a Community Mining Scheme to address the ongoing dispute.

This demand for community mining scheme, Mr. Opoku Gyamfi said is being worked on.

He revealed that, the Minister of Lands and his deputy, along with other stakeholders, are working to ensure a lasting solution to the impasse.

Ghanaian security analyst and International Relations expert, Farouk Al Wahab, has said President Akufo-Addo will not sign the anti-LGBTQ+ bill.

“It will be a difficult decision for the President. If he signs the Bill, it will affect his standing with international partners. If he doesn’t, it will affect not just his political career but that of the NPP. But I know he won’t sign.” he said.

Al Wahab made this known on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Monday following the passage of the anti-LGBTQ+ Bill by the Parliament of Ghana on February 28, 2024.

The Bill criminalizes LGBTQ+ activities, their promotion, advocacy, and funding within the country.

But, Al Wahab criticized Western countries and diplomats who have threatened to sanction Ghana over the Bill.

“It is unheard of that a country would be threatened by the international community for passing a law that protects its values and culture” he bemoaned.

Al Wahab cited examples of other nations such as Israel, Brunei, Libya, and Morocco, which have laws against LGBTQ+ rights but faced no sanctions or backlash.

He questioned why Ghana should succumb to Western pressure, suggesting that the country should strengthen its ties with Asian countries like China and Japan, who prioritize business over human rights.

“Ghana should not bow to Western pressure. We should rather strengthen our relationship with Asian countries, such as China and Japan, who are more interested in doing business than in human rights.” Al Wahab said.

An independent parliamentary candidate for Nkoranza North, Charles Owusu, has revealed how his uncle’s life took a tragic turn at the tender age of 10.

Narrating the ordeal on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, Mr. Owusu said a mentally challenged man from nowhere unleashed a vicious attack on him.

According to him, the mad man slashed his uncle with a cutlass, severing his hands, neck, and waist, and damaging his spinal cord.

“My uncle is disabled. I really love him. My mother comes before him. He was not born disabled but today he is disabled. At a younger age, around 10 years according to my grandma, a mad man subjected him to severe injury.

He continued “The mad man cut his hands, his neck, and his waist which affected his spinal cord. He damaged my uncle’s life.”

Fortunately, he noted that his uncle survived the ordeal but was left bedridden.

However, amidst the misfortune, Mr. Owusu found a powerful lesson.

“The fact that you are challenged somewhere in your body doesn’t mean you should beg for alms.”

Mr. Owusu urged physically challenged persons to rise above it and use their struggles as fuel to shatter barriers and embrace life’s opportunities.

The Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Dubik Mahama, has defended his outfit’s decision to disconnect electricity supply to Parliament.

According to the Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, the Deputy Clerk of the Corporate and Financial Management Services Division in Parliament, all necessary payments to the power distributor have been made.

The Executive Director of the Africa Center for Energy Policy (ACEP), Benjamin Boakye, has expressed concerns about the politicisation of Ghana’s power sector.

He said the government should be transparent and come clean about the ongoing power challenges.

“They are not being truthful to us. We are facing challenges because of the politics our leaders are playing in the power sector. When it comes to procurement and everything, our politicians are at the helm of affairs, and that is why we are struggling now. If we don’t give it to private entities to manage, this problem won’t cease,” he said.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Friday, Mr. Boakye pointed out a management crisis within the sector, indicating that the shortage of power generation is not just due to technical inadequacies but rather political interference.

He attributed the recent power disruptions to a combination of factors, including the shutdown of certain power plants and insufficient fuel.

Mr. Boakye urged government to announce scheduled load shedding to help citizens adjust their activities accordingly.

The driver of the 2M Express bus that narrowly escaped a robbery attack on the Kumasi-Accra Highway has recounted the harrowing experience.

On February 27, 2024, the 2M Express bus departed from Accra en route to Kumasi when it encountered the robbers near Atwedea.

The incident, captured on dashboard camera which has since gone viral on social media showed how the bus driver saved passengers from the armed robbers during a shoot-out.

Sharing his ordeal on Kumasi-based Akoma FM, the driver said he became suspicious of the actions of a vehicle ahead.

This he noted, prompted him to abruptly stop to avert a potential collision and ensure the safety of his passengers.

Just minutes, he said the armed robbers emerged from the nearby bush and started shooting sporadically.

“As I approached Atwedea towards the Juaso train lane, I observed a Sprinter bus ahead. Suddenly, the driver of the Sprinter bus began flashing his brake lights and abruptly stopped. I followed suit to prevent a collision. It was at this moment that I heard gunfire and witnessed armed individuals emerging from the nearby foliage.”

Realizing the gravity of the situation, the driver said swiftly reversed to evade the attackers and protect his passengers.

“One group targeted the Sprinter bus, while another advanced towards my vehicle. Without hesitation, I shifted into reverse gear and accelerated away from the scene. Fortunately, there were no vehicles behind me, allowing me to drive to safety. However, the robbers, noticing my escape, fired shots at my vehicle,” he recounted.

When he escaped and got to Asankare, he warned other motorists on the road and prevented them from falling prey.

“When I got to Asankare, I immediately began alerting oncoming vehicles about the danger ahead,” he emphasized.

A lead sponsor of the Anti-LGBTQI+ Bill, Samuel Nartey George, has taken on prominent activist and former leader of the #FixTheCountry movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, for criticizing the passage of the Bill.

Ghana’s Parliament passed the Bill on Wednesday, February 28, after several debates, contributions and opposition by some Civil Society Organisation.

Mr. Barker-Vormawor after the passage of the Bill, expressed his disappointment, describing it as unconstitutional.

The passage of the draconian and clearly unconstitutional Proper Human Values Bill reflects poorly on our democracy and our commitment to human rights. Posterity will judge this Parliament and us harshly,” he stated on his official Twitter page.

However, Mr. George, speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Thursday, dismissed Mr. Barker-Vormawor’s criticism.

In his view, his protest is motivated by external factors, such as his academic pursuits.

“Let people not come and make themselves modern-day saviours. Oliver Vormawor is saying that because of his PhD scholarship in Oxford, that’s why he is making those comments. Oliver sleeps with women and not men; he is only against it because of his scholarship in Oxford.” he said.

Mr. George said individuals like Vormawor should not be celebrated because they are pursuing personal and parochial interests.

“Such characters must be ousted too. In their personal lives, none of them is homosexual but are doing that because of his scholarship at Oxford. Let’s not celebrate people chasing their personal parochial interest as every one of them has an interest. My interest is to protect the future of the younger ones.” he added.

A lead sponsor of the anti-LGBTQI+ Bill, Samuel George claims the Coalition of 18 Civil Society Groups against the Bill are being funded by organizations supporting LGBTQ+ community.

According to him, these individuals led by the Board Chairperson of the Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), Professor Audrey Gadzekpo have been influenced with money.

“God is exposing you all. All these people are being funded by LGBTQ organizations. They are collecting money for the advocacy they are doing now. They are being influenced by money, nothing more and nothing less” Mr. George alleged.

He made these accusations in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Thursday following the passage of the controversial Bill, which prohibits LGBTQI+ activities and criminalizes their promotion, advocacy, and funding.

However, Professor Gadzekpo has said that the anti-Gay Bill was passed for political reasons.

In October 2021, Professor Gadzekpo, with 14 professionals from various fields, including law and academia, submitted a memo to Parliament opposing the anti-LGBTQI+ Bill.

In response, Mr. George said their arguments lacked common sense noting that, their opposition is financially motivated.

The Ningo-Prampram MP questioned why they hadn’t taken their grievances to court if they think Parliament has erred.

Sam George said if it were about money, he himself would have been rich by now.

The Founding President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has described the President Akufo-Addo’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) as a blend of somber reflection and cautious optimism.

In an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, he observed that, the President was apologetic about Ghana’s current economic challenges.

Mr. Cudjoe noted a departure from past rhetoric where external factors like Covid-19 and the Russia/Ukraine conflict were blamed for Ghana’s domestic woes.

“Sombre but hopeful SONA. The President actually sounded apologetic for the economic atrophy. For once Russia, Ukraine, and COVID were not scapegoated for our woes. He took full responsibility for the bad and good in his administration” he noted.

His comments follow President Akufo-Addo’s acknowledgment of the nation’s economic hardships during his address in Parliament.

“The President has ultimate responsibility. It would be an unwise President that would pretend to have all the answers, and refuse the advice of his officials, but the fact remains that the President holds the executive power” he stated.

Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu, John Jinapor, has questioned why the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has been unable to persuade President Akufo-Addo to abolish the taxes on Electronic Financial Transactions, commonly known as the E-levy.

According to him, just as Dr. Bawumia proposed to scrap the E-levy if elected President, he could have convinced his boss [Akufo-Addo] to scrap these taxes before the elections.

“Why is Bawumia telling us that if elected he will scrap E-levy but unable to convince his boss to drop it. They are just throwing dust into our eyes just make Dr. Bawumia popular. If he thinks it is not a good, thing, he should just tell his boss to scrap it” he said.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia pledged to scrap E-levy and four other taxes to incentivize Ghanaians to use electronic payment channels.

However, Mr. Jinapor in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem said government cannot scrap E-levy because it was introduced to generate revenue as part of requirements set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) .

As the Ranking member of Parliament’s Mines and Energy Committee, Mr. Jinapor suggested that if Dr. Bawumia cannot communicate effectively with the President, he should consider resigning.

He questioned the value Dr. Bawumia brings if he can’t influence his own President.

To Mr. Jinapor, Ghanaians are intelligent and shouldn’t be taken for granted by the government.

Secondly, he pointed out that there is no money to purchase heavy fuel.

He also noted that, the government is unable to pay for gas consumed from the West Africa Gas Pipeline, leading to another shutdown of the pipeline by WAPCO.

Mr. Jinapor referenced reports about the inability of state agencies in the power production and transmission ecosystem to meet their financial obligations.

“The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) is currently unable to fulfill its payment obligations to the West African Gas Pipeline, which is responsible for transporting gas from Takoradi to Tema for power generation” he said in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Wednesday.

To the Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu, the country may be plunged back into darkness if nothing is done about the energy situation, which he describes as worrying.

Information Minister designate, Fatimatu Abubakar, has reassured Ghanaians that intermittent power supply known in local parlance as ‘dumsor’ is a thing of the past.

According to her, under the competent government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, all Ghanaians will enjoy is stable power supply.

Mrs. Abubakar noted that, though there has power outages in recent times, it is not dumsor as the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) wants Ghanaians to believe.

“The NDC talks too much and makes baseless accusations. It’s not load shedding like the way they are lying to the public” she said on Asempa FM’s Ekosi Sen programme Wednesday

The opposition NDC has urged Ghanaians to brace themselves for dumsor since government is unable to pay for gas supply.

They claim government owes a colossal amount and the suppliers have vowed to cut gas supply to the power plants.

But Mrs Abubakar urged Ghanaians to treat NDC ‘s propaganda with the contempt it deserves.

She explained that, the recent power outage is due to maintenance work and not debt.

“For those equipment, maintenance is very necessary. The system has to be managed in such a way that it can cater to the demands,” she added.

Information Minister designate, Fatimatu Abubakar has said President Akufo-Addo’s comment about not drinking alcohol was not aimed at anyone.

The President drunk water while delivering his State of the Nation Address (SONA) to Parliament on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

To avoid any speculation, he joking said “I don’t drink alcohol. Everybody who knows me knows that I don’t drink alcohol.”

But some politicians are claiming the comment is a jab on political opponents who drink alcohol.

Reacting to this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Mrs. Abubakar said the President’s comment was not to anyone.

“Drinking alcohol or not is a personal decision and should not be judged. All those close to him know he doesn’t drink alcohol and not shading anyone too” she stressed.

The founder and leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga is disappointed in the re-appointment of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as Senior Presidential Advisor and Special Envoy for International Finance and Private Sector Investments.

In his view, President Akufo-Addo and his cronies are just playing with the minds of Ghanaians.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Tuesday, Mr. Ayariga could not fathom why a Finance Minister who has collapsed Ghana’s economy would be given a more juicy position in government.

The only explanation for this, the APC leader said is that, President Akufo-Addo have taken Ghanaians for granted.

“Majority of members from the NPP, over 80 percent, desired Ofori-Atta’s removal, yet the President ignored their voices. His reshuffle and new appointment is just an attempt to conceal the government’s shortcomings and evade scrutiny from the incoming administration. They are playing with the minds of Ghanaians” he said.

Labeling Ofori-Atta as the worst Finance Minister Ghana has ever had, Mr. Ayariga questioned the competence of the reshuffled appointees.

He said they offer nothing substantial at this critical stage just 10 months to the general elections.

Mr. Ayariga said for the past seven years, President Akufo-Addo has not achieved any significant achievements.

Political marketing strategist, Dr. Bernard Tutu Boahen has outlined some strategies for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to break the 8.

According to him, breaking the eight agenda largely depends on President Akufo-Addo’s ability to persuade and reassure Ghanaians through his actions and promises during his State of the Nation Address (SONA).

In his view, the President’s words must be accompanied by tangible results, particularly in the ten months leading up to the elections, in order to sway voters.

“This SONA will be the president’s last address to the nation. He should something to convince or encourage Ghanaians, when that happens, breaking the eight won’t be too far away. For about 10 months to elections, if Akufo-Addo’s promises bring massive changes to Ghanaians even in the next government, it can determine their breaking the eight agenda” he said in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Tuesday.

President Akufo-Addo is scheduled to deliver his last SONA to Parliament today, February 27, 2024, as stipulated by Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

During his address, the President is expected to provide updates on various sectors, including security, governance, education, health, infrastructure, and the fight against corruption.

But Mr. Tutu Boahen is of the firm conviction that, if President Akufo-Addo’s initiatives set a positive trajectory for the incoming government, it could pave the way for breaking the eight.

However, failure to deliver on promises, the Political strategist said could have adverse effects on NPP’s chances in the December elections.

“Breaking the eight include convincing Ghanaians, fulfilling promises, fostering happiness among the populace, and laying a foundation for the next government’s success, effective implementation, and visible results, demonstrating power, taking action, and executing plans effectively are essential for meeting the expectations of the electorate” he said.

Political Marketing Strategy, Dr. Bernard Tutu Boahen has urged President Akufo-Addo to use the State of the Nation Address (SONA) to apologise to Ghanaians.

His plea follows calls from some Ghanaians on the President to apologise for the mismanagement of the economy in his final SONA.

President Akufo-Addo is slated to deliver his last SONA to Parliament today, February 27, 2024, in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

In his view, today’s address marks the final State of the Nation Address and that any pertinent information should be conveyed truthfully.

Mr. Boahen wants the President to acknowledge these grievances and apologise if necessary, as it would bring honour and demonstrate accountability.

“If there is something he needs us to know, he should be truthful to us. Apologizing won’t break you but shows how bold you are. Apologising also means an act of humility,” Dr. Boahen said.

He made this known in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Tuesday.

Dr. Boahen cited how former Presidents Kufuor and late former President Atta Mills publicly apologised for the nation’s hardships to buttress his point.

He expects President Akufo-Addo to follow suit and address all grievances during his address.

A group calling itself the Alliance for Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA) has expressed disappointment with the appointment of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as the Senior Executive Secretary of the advocacy.

Executive Secretary for the group, Kwaku Takyi Adomako, speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem said Mr. Ofori-Atta has not been in the good books of Ghanaians regarding certain economic decisions.

According to him, while the President has the right to appoint individuals he deems fit in his government, doing so in this manner is in bad faith.

Mr. Adomako noted that, the best course of action would have been for the President to allow Mr. Ofori-Atta to rest.

In their view, such decision is a slap in the face to Ghanaians.

“The position he has been given is even more significant than that of the Finance Minister; he will be making more decisions than the current minister. Where did this position come from? We, the NPP foot soldiers, are not happy. We understand you have the right to appoint, but some appointments are unnecessary. Therefore, the President should revoke this appointment.”

The President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has appealed to President Akufo-Addo not to give excuses regarding the state of the economy.

Instead, he expects the President to apologise to Ghanaians for mismanaging the economy and subjecting them to hardship.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is scheduled to deliver the State of the Nation address to Parliament on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, as stipulated by Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

This constitutional provision mandates the President to convey a message on the State of the Nation at the commencement of each session and prior to the dissolution of Parliament.

During his address, the President is expected to provide updates on various sectors, including security, governance, education, health, infrastructure, and the fight against corruption.

However, Mr. Cudjoe, speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Monday, said President Akufo-Addo should be candid in his address to the nation.

“His last State of the Nation address is expected to be full of flowery praises, which is anticipated, but he should be bold enough to apologize to us. He is the one who should extend the apology rather than Bawumia, so that people will at least understand them” he stressed.

The IMANI boss added that, “as he [Akufo-Addo] is leaving office, he should acknowledge that he has completed his term and express hope that the next person will do their best without offering excuses. I don’t want to hear any excuses”.

The President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has described the appointment of former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta as Special Envoy for International Finance and Private Sector Investment as “unnecessary”.

In his view, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should have just mentioned it in passing because making the appointment official is a waste of taxpayers’ money.

Franklin Cudjoe

“I think it’s unnecessary. The President may have mentioned it in passing that Ken could be an advisor, but to make it official, signing and putting it on paper. Ken is prim and proper, and so he wants us to know that it’s indeed on paper. That’s the feeling we get.

The moment you officialise it, then he will be traveling all in the name of an international envoy, which means he will use our taxpayers’ money to travel all in the name of getting financial aid for the country” he said.

Mr. Cudjoe made this known in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Monday.

The former Finance Minister, in a letter dated February 15, 2024, and signed by the Chief of Staff, Frema Osei-Opare, was appointed as the Senior Presidential Advisor and Special Envoy for International Finance and Private Sector Investments.

His appointment has triggered calls for increased vigilance from civil society and the public.

But Mr. Cudjoe said nothing surprises him anymore because he is tired of being disappointed in President Akufo-Addo.

The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has descended on former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Yaa Jantuah for playing tribal politics with the resignation of Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu as Majority Leader in Parliament.

Ms. Jantuah had claimed his removal is a deliberate attempt by the NPP to push leading Ashanti figures out of the party.

She cited the case of former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen’s case as an example to buttress her point.

According to her, the Akyem faction led by President Akufo-Addo is engaging in a tribal agenda to eliminate Ashantis in the party.

Reacting to this, a peeved NPP National Organiser chided Ms. Jantuah for her ethnocentric comment.

“For a respected woman like you to make such an unnecessary comment is unfortunate. People respect you a lot and it’s better you refrain from making such remarks. She [Nana Yaa] should tone it down.” he said in an interview on Asempa FMs Ekosii Sen programme Friday.

Nana Boakye stated emphatically that, the former Majority leader was not forced out of his position.

Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Member of Parliament for Suame, formally announced his resignation as Majority Leader on Friday Feburary 23, 2024 in Parliament.

He clarified that, his decision was entirely personal and not influenced by any external pressure, contrary to speculations in some media reports.

The Public Relations Officer of the National Ghana Registered Nurses’ & Midwives’ Association (GRNMA), Joseph Krampah is not surprised over 200 nurses and other health professionals have left Ghana to seek greener pastures abroad.

This follows the revelation by the Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, that over 200 nurses and other health professionals left the hospital in 2023.

The CEO lamented that the departure of the health workers is negatively affecting the smooth operations of the facility.

During an interaction with Finance Minister, Mohammed Amin Adam, and his team during a tour of the facility, Professor Addai-Mensah appealed to the government to allow authorities to replace the departed staff to enhance service delivery.

Reacting to the development on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Friday, Mr. Krampah said the number quoted is even less.

“Our nurses are treated unfairly. The government is to blame for all that. If health workers believe going out of the country is the best option for them, they will leave” he said.

Mr. Krampah said they have tried to resolve this issue but government has not shown good faith.

He urged the government to improve conditions of service stating that when things are managed well, health workers will not leave.

On the way forward, Mr. Krampah said they will soon meet with the government how to retain the health workers in Ghana.

Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has always been penciled in to lead Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 Manifesto Committee, this according to Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2024 election campaign.

Mr. Aboagye dismissed reports that, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu’s appointment was due to speculation about his potential resignation, labeling such claims as conspiracy theories.

He made these remarks during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday.

The committee’s mandate includes conducting a comprehensive review of the party’s 2016 and 2020 manifestos and engaging with relevant stakeholders to formulate a pragmatic 2024 manifesto.

Explaining the rationale behind selecting the former Majority Leader, Mr. Aboagye said Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has extensive parliamentary experience spanning over two decades.

“Manifesto has to do with all the sectors and everything affects people in the country. Is there anybody in Ghana who has broad knowledge and experience than Osei-Kyei. He has been in Parliament for so many years.

He has been leader and has seen laws being enacted and repelled. He has knowledge of every sector in this country from the 90s till today and so no one should think that we rushed to named him. He is the best person for this job” he added.

The Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa South constituency in the Eastern Region, Samuel Atta Akyea is still not convinced about the explanation given for the resignation of Majority leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.

According to him, being appointed Chairman of a Manifesto committee is not a full-time job.

To Mr. Atta Akyea, that should not be a reason for the Member of Parliament for Suame to leave his current position as Majority leader.

His comment comes in the wake of the resignation of the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who has been subsequently appointed as the Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Manifesto Committee.

Many argue that, he resigned to have more time for his new role in the campaign ahead of the December general elections.

But Mr. Atta Akyea, speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday said, he is opposed to any decision to change leadership at this time.

“When you leave your leadership role, you can still go ahead and do your manifesto job. This is not a sufficient reason to resign from your current position,” he said.

The move, the Abuakwa South MP noted, could potentially sow division within the party.

“I am very disappointed he [Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu] didn’t even consult before resigning. Many people have confidence in his leadership,” he bemoaned.

A Political Science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Kwasi Amakye Boateng, says Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has been betrayed by his party.

To him, given the instrumental role the Majority leader has played for the ruling party, they should have at least allowed him to exit Parliament with dignity.

“The NPP wants to remove people who have, for some time now, maintained independence on certain issues, and the key target has been the Majority Leader. The man has been terribly betrayed,” he said on Adom FM’s morning show Dwao Nsem, Wednesday.

Rumors have been rife about the potential removal of the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu. The party’s National Council and NEC meeting on Monday had this supposed change as an agenda, but no decision was taken.

However, Dr. Boateng said there is a grand scheme by some factions within the NPP to replace the current Majority Leader.

Even after supporting President Akufo-Addo for so many years, the Political Scientist could not fathom why the Majority Leader should be treated this way.

“Those of us in Kumasi know he supported Akufo-Addo even against Kufuor. Meanwhile he is a Kumasi person, and this is what he has been rewarded with eventually?. It’s a crisis in the party that has manifested itself, and that’s the effect we are seeing today,” he claimed.

A Political Science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Kwasi Amakye Boateng, has revealed that some key members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) want the party to lose the 2024 elections.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Dr. Boateng stated that there is an attempt by President Akufo-Addo to maintain control over the party even after leaving office.

Based on this backdrop, he said some NPP leading members have resolved to cause the party’s defeat in the December general elections stop President Akufo-Addo’s influence.

“Some key members, on the quiet, are praying and hoping for defeat in the 2024 elections,” he claimed.

A Political Science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has accused Deputy Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin of orchestrating the removal of Majority leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.

Dr. Kwasi Amakye Boateng strongly believes Mr. Afenyo-Markin was the one who leaked information about the changes in the Majority leadership to the public.

“Afenyo-Markin himself was the person who disclosed that information, he is fully involved in any plot within the party, including undermining his boss,” he said.

Dr. Boateng made these claims in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Wednesday following reports of a potential reshuffle in the majority leadership in Parliament.

Rumours were circulating about the possible removal of Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, with his Deputy Alexander Afenyo-Markin poised to replace him.

Indeed, the National Council and NEC meeting of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Monday had this change on the agenda, although no decision was made.

Addressing journalists in Parliament, a group of NPP MPs led by First Deputy Speaker Joseph Osei-Owusu warned that no change would be tolerated.

But Mr. Amakye Boateng said the Majority know it was Mr. Afenyo-Markin who leaked the information that is why they did not bother to probe.

The Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, Andy Appiah-Kubi, has said there is no need to hunt for those behind the speculated leadership changes within the Majority caucus in Parliament.

In his view, not all rumours are credible therefore pursuing those behind it is unnecessary.

“Why go after those behind the rumours in the first place. It is just unnecessary. Mr. Osei Owusu came to set the records straight and so it should end there” he said.

Mr. Appiah-Kubi’s stance aligns with Joseph Osei Owusu, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Bekwai, who dismissed reports of an impending leadership reshuffle.

The rumors of a potential reshuffle have sparked internal divisions within the caucus, particularly regarding the possible replacement of current Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, by Deputy Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

But Mr. Appiah-Kubi cited the guidelines outlined in the new Standing Orders, indicating that such matters should be addressed internally and not discussed in public.

Regarding the role of social media, the law maker expressed disappointment, stating that relying on it for information is wrong.

Going forward, Mr. Appiah-Kubi urged prioritizing the party’s best interests over trivial distractions, stressing the need to maintain focus and concentrate on what is beneficial for the party.

A political analyst, Dr. Bernard Tutu Boahen, has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is fortunate to have former President John Agyekum Kufuor and President Akufo-Addo leading his campaign advisory committee.

According to him, for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to have two Presidents on his team means he will get the needed results.

“Dr. Bawumia has been fortunate. He has two Presidents on his campaign team. These are people who have led campaigns and have achieved results. For Nana Addo, he has contested and failed so many times, so he knows what goes into winning and losing. He has also been the General Secretary of the party for many years, so to have these people around you means it is fortunate,” he said in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Tuesday.

His was reacting to the campaign team named by the NPP flagbearer ahead of the December general elections.

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor and President Akufo-Addo will lead the Campaign Advisory Committee, alongside other notable members such as Freddie Worsemao Blay, Elizabeth Ohene, Rev. Joyce Aryee, and Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei Opare.

The political analyst is convinced given the experiences of the Campaign Advisory Committee members, he will not be surprised if the party retains power.

“Blending all these experiences and that of Dr. Bawumia, and listening to their counsel, I will not be surprised by the outcome of the 2024 elections,” he stated.

The Manhyia South constituency organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, Mustapha Alhassan, is scheduled to appear at the police headquarters today.

This was after he was declared wanted over a viral video in which he was threatening electoral violence ahead of the December election.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the summons, the party’s regional executives will be accompanying Mustapha Alhassan to the police station with a legal team.

The NDC’s Ashanti Regional Secretary, Dr. Frank Amoakohene in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem that the party is fully prepared to handle any legal proceedings at the police headquarters.

He disclosed their readiness to take decisive action, including initiating the arrest of the NPP official Mustapha Alhassan, who was also present on the show.

“We are going with our lawyers, and we are ready for whatever legal tussle. If we need to file a counter-complaint for them to arrest the NPP official, we will do the same, and if we need to perform a citizen’s arrest and bring the NPP official to the police, we will do that” he said.

He stressed the importance of maintaining the presumption of innocence until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction, adding that Mustapha Alhassan should not be prejudged in this matter.

In his view, Mustapha Alhassan is a victim of misreporting because he was responding to his co-panelist but did not mean anything he said

“From our investigations and checks, the officer was only serving notice to the NPP official that anybody who rigs the 2024 elections is only preparing a platform for blablabla… and so it was a response to the NPP official, and we can’t be prejudicial condemning someone without hearing him out” Dr. Amoakohene added.

The Minister for Communications and Digitalization, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has said elections are not won social media.

According to her, if voting was done on social media, Nigeria’s Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi would have won the Nigerian general elections.

“Social media isn’t the platform for elections, otherwise Peter Obi would’ve clinched the Nigerian general elections. The ballot boxes are not on social media and we don’t vote on Facebook and other socials” she said.

The lawmaker made this known in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday.

She stressed that, merely making noise on social media is not a guarantee for electoral victory.

Mrs Owusu-Ekuful indicated that, given the massive development by the Akufo-Addo government, the December elections will be cool chop for New Patriotic Party (NPP).

She said President Akufo-Addo has made significant contributions to Ghana’s development and posterity will judge him favorably.

The Ablekuma West Constituency MP said President Akufo-Addo will be remembered as one of the best Presidents in Ghana’s history.

Though he is being criticised, Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful said the President will be hailed like former Presidents, Kwame Nkrumah and John Kufuor.

Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful says she is ready to serve if chosen as running mate to New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to her, she is “ever ready to contribute my quota and do it well”.

Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful indicated that, her life and times are in the hands of God, as He is the only one who appoints a king.

Whatever the Lord says and plans about her, she believes it will surely come to pass.

“I don’t plan my future because my life is in the hands of God. Wherever I find myself, I am ever ready to contribute my quota and do it well. God knows the plan and so not what I want is what will happen but what the Lord says. If it’s God’s will, I don’t have to lift a finger; it will come to pass,” she said.

Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful made this known on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme after her name was listed as part of the individuals reportedly being considered to become the running mate.

When asked by the host whether she was aware that her name was captured in the list of running mates, she replied, “Ursula will enhance anybody’s opportunity anywhere.”

But the Minister for Communications and Digitalization said Dr. Bawumia should be left alone to prepare and select an individual he believes will be best suited for the role.

“We have work to do. I’d want us to leave him to select his own running mate. He should take his time to find someone he wants and can work with,” she stated.

As the nation gears up for a crucial general election, some Ghanaians are already fed up with the two major political parties, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In the bustling streets of Accra, amidst the hustle and bustle, Ghanaians expressed their discontent and frustrations.

The Multimedia Group Limited’s grand launch of its election coverage initiative, christened the Election Headquarters for the English-speaking populace and ‘Kokromoti’ Power for the Akan speakers, serves as a rallying point for these voices.

From the corridors of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to the vibrant hub of Kwame Nkrumah Circle, our team navigates the urban landscape, capturing the minds of the people.

Some Ghanaians have chosen not to vote as a silent protest against NDC and NPP.

This, they explained, is because both political parties have been given the opportunity but has moved Ghana’s socio-economic development from bad to worse.

“Both NDC and NPP are cut from the same cloth. They don’t bring anything on board. We voted for them and here we are, disappointments everywhere,” some traders said.

Amidst their opinions, one prevailing sentiment stands out: dissatisfaction with the political establishment.

“We don’t expect much,” a trader lamented, echoing the disappointment of many.

Yet, amidst the doubt, there is a glimmer of hope — a determination to vote based on substantive issues rather than succumb to gestures from politicians come election time.

“The youth are being neglected. Basic needs are overlooked, opportunities are scarce. For me, this election holds greater significance. It must be inclusive,” a concerned youth said, revealing the urgent need for responsive governance.

As Ghana stands at the crossroads of its democratic journey, the voices of the disenfranchised echo through the corridors of power, demanding to be heard.

The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has apologised to residents following reports of water shortages in Accra.

The Communications Manager of GWCL, Stanley Martey, stated in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme that his outfit is working tirelessly to resolve the matter.

He expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to residents in the capital city.

“We are working tirelessly to resolve the matter. Yes, we know there is a challenge but we are working to resolve the matter. We are sorry and apologise for that. We also want them to know that we are not sitting idly but are actively tackling the challenges they are facing” he noted.

In his view, power supply is a significant challenge affecting their rationing program and stated that they are collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure consistent power supply for proper water flow.

Residents in affected areas, such as Adjringanor, East Legon, and surrounding communities, have expressed concerns about the acute water shortage.

They say it has adversely impacted their livelihoods, forcing them to purchase water from tankers at high prices.

Mr. Martey therefore urged the public to appreciate their efforts, stressing that their staff are working around the clock in the field to resolve the operational challenges.

Deputy National Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jennifer Queen Oforiwaa, has recounted a harrowing experience that sent shivers down her spine.

She described how an unknown man jumped onto her car one fateful evening in the streets of Dansoman.

But for her vigilance, Jennifer said she would have killed the young man.

“It was around 6:30 pm, just two weeks ago. I felt a sudden jolt as someone jumped in front of my car. If I hadn’t acted swiftly, who knows what horrors might have unfolded?” she recounted.

As a politician, she was scared of a potential consequence and the stories that could emerge from such an event.

“As a seasoned politician, I’m familiar to weathering storms, but nothing prepared me for the uncertainty of that moment. Had I panic and pressed the accelerator, tragedy could have struck. They would even accuse me of manslaughter” she said.

She made this revelation in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Friday.

According to the NPP woman, she was later informed that the incident was a ploy to rob her.

Fortunately, bystanders intervened, thwarting the attempted robbery and ensure her safety.

Madam Jennifer shared her story while reacting to the accident involving pupils from Ampeah Memorial School in Nkawkaw.

A fatal motor accident on the Kumasi-Accra road claimed the lives of three male pupils and a female teacher.

A Nissan Patrol vehicle, said to be the official vehicle of the District Chief Executive for Atwima Kwanwoma in the Ashanti region, Prince Karikari, is said to have crashed into the Hyundai mini bus.

Eyewitnesses say the driver of the vehicle attempted an unapproved u-turn whiles driving on the shoulders of the road from the Accra-Kumasi direction at a spot near Nanchia.

Madam Jennifer, who was involved in an accident in 2020, urged drivers to be more cautious to prevent such avoidable deaths.

Director for Bawumia’s Campaign Communications, Nana Akomea claims some women in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have fallen in love with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s digitalization agenda.

According to him, one of such women, Auntie Akweley, a staunch NDC member at Bubuashi in Accra shared her experience with him.

“Auntie Akweley, a staunch NDC supporter at Bubuashi in my constituency, expressed her admiration for Bawumia’s digitalization initiatives. Despite her allegiance to the NDC, she lauded Bawumia’s efforts in championing digitization, acknowledging its importance for Ghana’s development” he said in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme.

This testimony, Nana Akomea stated is enough attestation that, the Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a visionary leader.

The NPP man who is also the Managing Director of State Transport Company (STC) said his outfit has benefited from Dr. Bawumia’s initiatives.

“Even at STC, Bawumia personally intervened to ensure that digitalization efforts are progressing,” he explained.

He further stated that, Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to digitalization, coupled with his broader vision for the country, will garner significant support for him in the upcoming presidential elections.

“Bawumia’s agenda, including digitalization, resonates with Ghanaians, making him a compelling choice for the presidency. Digitalization is a crucial step forward, and Bawumia’s initiatives are already demonstrating tangible benefits for Ghanaians” he added.

Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation (STC), Nana Akomea, has expressed shock after Chief State Attorney at the Office of the Attorney-General, Samuel Nerquaye-Tetteh, was found guilty for collecting GH¢400,000 from businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome in 2011.

Mr. Nerquaye-Tetteh was disbarred, meaning he can never practice as a lawyer again in Ghana, after the Disciplinary Committee of the GLC, the regulatory body of the legal profession, found him guilty of professional misconduct under Rule 2(2) of the Legal Profession (Professional Conduct and Etiquette) Rules, 1969 (L.I. 613).

In a notice dated January 31, 2024, the GLC said while defending the state against a suit by Woyome in 2011, Mr. Nerquaye-Tetteh personally caused the direct transfer of an amount of GH¢400,000 from Mr. Woyome to his wife’s bank account.

Reacting to the issue on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Nana Akomea could not fathom why the matter has taken over 14 years.

“Why has this matter taken so long before he is being punished after 14 good years? I wonder why the justice system is like that when it’s clear that the person actually committed a crime. I also think there is a conflict of interest,” he stated.

Citing examples, the former MP for Okaikwei South MP said cases such as Major Mahama’s murder case and JB Danquah murder case have been pending for so long in court.

In his view, such delays affects people’s confidence in Ghana’s justice system.

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has described President Akufo-Addo’s recent ministerial reshuffle, as a bold and radical exercise.

He commended the President for his decisive actions, even though some prominent figures within the government had been relieved of their positions.

While he had anticipated some changes, the extent of the overhaul, he noted, took him by surprise.

“I am shocked. Let me say that we in NPP welcome the President’s ministerial reshuffle. Because I for instance, wanted a reshuffle, but this particular one is a radical one looking at some big wigs who have been relieved of their post” he said in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday.

Despite his surprise, Mr. Kodua Frimpong reiterated the NPP’s support for the President’s decision, stressing the need for bold leadership in implementing such drastic measures.

Mr. Kodua Frimpong’s comments come in response to President Akufo-Addo’s reshuffle that saw 13 ministers relieved of their duties.

Among those affected were the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta; and the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta.

But the NPP scribe expressed optimism about the inclusion of younger individuals in key positions, highlighting the potential for innovation and revitalization within the administration.

He urged incoming ministers to prioritize effective governance and deliver tangible results for the benefit of the nation.

Mr. Kodua Frimpong therefore affirmed the party’s commitment to supporting government in its efforts to enhance governance and improve the lives of Ghanaians.

The parliamentary ambition of Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the wife of the famous musician Keche Andrew, appears to be dwindling.

This follows opposition from members of the party in the constituency claiming she is not fit to be their Member of Parliament.

A former member of the NDC Elections Committee in Amenfi Central, Gyedu Frimpong maintained that, the businesswoman is not qualified to contest because she is alien to the party in the constituency.

The Chairman explained that, although Madam Cudjoe hails from Amenfi Central, she does not vote in the constituency.

“Joana Gyan Cudjoe’s documents prove that she is a native of Amenfi Central but she does not vote here. She is not an NDC member here. The woman owns two party cards, which is against the party’s rules. We have warned the party to be very careful about the things they are doing because we don’t know her” he said in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem on Tuesday.

Mr. Frimpong claimed Mrs. Joana Cudjoe is a “dishonest person” who is not supposed to lead them in the constituency.

Going forward, he appealed to the national executives of the party to carry out thorough investigations to unveil the truth.

Meanwhile, former MP for Amenfi Central, George Arthur on the same show, implored her supporters to disregard rumours about Joana Cudjoe.

He rubbished all allegations against her noting that, they are just a grand scheme to denigrate the image of the Parliamentary candidate.

“Those who are alleging are behind the sitting MP and are doing so because they hate her. They are only making baseless allegations against her. Even issues of her forged ID cards are untrue. They purposely want to denigrate and destroy the lady,” Mr. Arthur stressed.

The former Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen, has expressed his views on the potential selection of Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah, former Chairman of the Church of Pentecost as the running mate for Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign in the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.

In an interview on Accra based Neat FM, Obiri Boahen outlined the qualities he believes make Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah a suitable candidate for the position.

“When it comes to academic credentials, Opoku Onyinah has them. In terms of human relations, maturity in politics and humility, he possesses all three qualities.

“Then, it’s crucial to remember that when engaging in politics in Africa, certain factors cannot be ignored, religion, ethnicity and other considerations. People used to claim that the NPP doesn’t like Muslims and northerners.

“…now, people are suggesting that his running mate should be an Akan Christian person. This would satisfy both Muslims and Christians,” he said.

By selecting Onyinah, the NPP man argued, Dr. Bawumia could promote unity within the party and challenge misconceptions about its stance on religious and ethnic diversity.

“So, if Bawumia goes for Onyinah, what will happen? Bawumia is a Muslim, and Onyinah is an Akan who is a Pentecostal. So, if Bawumia decides to go for Onyinah, I don’t see anything wrong with it,” he added.

The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Nartey George has made another allegation against the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

This time he claimed GRA has procured generators which have been abandoned at a warehouse in Accra.

“Over the past few weeks, I have received information indicating that the GRA purchased generators which were subsequently left abandoned at a warehouse in the North Industrial Area of Accra” he said in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday.

Mr. George stated that not only were the prices inflated, but the generators have been left rot in the warehouse for two and a half years.

The generators, he said were intended for use in all GRA offices across the country.

The Ningo-Prampram MP lashed out at the Commissioner-General of GRA, Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Adu Owusu-Amoah whom he said should have known better and ensured proper management.

“This happening under the GRA boss who is supposed to know and do better. Some kind of funny things going on there. The over 40 to 60 generators have been exposed to the elements, such as sun and rain, for an extended period” he noted.

Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Madina, Alhaji Amadu Bukari Sorogho disclosed this on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Monday.

He claimed, their action is to disassociate themselves from Dr. Bawumia who is also the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“Are you aware that mates in the country are angry at Bawumia and want to protest because he used them to set an example? They claim he is destroying their names but we are pleading with them to calm down” the NDC man asserted.

Alhaji Sorogho said if the Vice President considers himself as a mate, then he is not qualified to drive.

“A typical mate doesn’t qualify to drive even if your master travels for years but Bawumia acts as a President anytime Akufo-Addo is out of the country and so you see the confusion he has brought” he quizzed.

National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has said President Akufo-Addo is far more trustworthy than Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He indicated that, on any day, he will choose bad [Akufo-Addo] over evil [Dr. Bawumia].

He made this known following an address by the Vice President on the theme: “Ghana’s Next Chapter: Selfless Leadership and Bold Solutions for the Future” at the University of Professional Studies in Accra.

During the lecture, Bawumia outlined his goals for the country as the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and urged Ghanaians to vote for him in the upcoming general elections.

However, speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Nketia said Dr. Bawumia cannot be trusted.

To him, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is a better option than Dr. Bawumia.

“It is about Bawumia’s word against akufo addo word. I can confidently tell you that Akufo-Addo is far more trustworthy than Bawumia” General Mosquito said.

The NDC Chairman also chided Dr. Bawumia for shifting all the blame on President Akufo-Addo.

In the coming days, Mr. Asiedu Nketia said NDC respond appropriately and expose the Vice President.

“This is just a precursor; we are coming to issue a major response to his statement and expose him properly. Because if you allow falsehood to lead the nation without acting against it, you are equally guilty of what is happening. So, for us, we will keep speaking up and continue to remind him that where were you when we were fighting against E-Levy, Emission Tax, VAT on Domestic Electricity? Recently, they forced through to approve the budget which we denounced, where were the people in the NPP now supporting Bawumia? Were they not in parliament? What did they do? He cannot come and deceive us at all,” he stated.
